President Monson summed up the balance between faith and works as it pertains to family history very well with the following:

"The Lord expects you and me to perform our family history work well. I think the first thing we must do if we are to perform our work well is to have the Spirit of our Heavenly Father with us. When we live as righteously as we know how to live, He will open the way for the fulfillment of the blessings that so earnestly and diligently we seek.

We are going to make mistakes, but none of us can become an expert in family history work without first being a novice. Therefore, we must plunge into this work, and we must prepare for some uphill climbing. This is not an easy task, but the Lord has placed it upon you, and He has placed it upon me." ("Hastening the Work:, June 2014 Ensign)

The Spirit is the most important thing, but we are counseled in D&C 9:7-8 that in order to receive the guidance of the Spirit, we must first “study it out in [our minds].” Former YW General President Ardeth Kapp (Deseret News, March 31, 2006) and former RS General President Bonnie Parkin (Church News, November 27, 2004) both used the phrase “good information makes for good inspiration.”

If we don't learn how to find records to verify information and relationships, correctly find and resolve duplicates, etc. (the "uphill climbing") it is difficult for the Spirit to teach us to "perform our family history work well."

We need reviewers

 We need Reviewer's Now

In web indexing, we need more reviewers. The backlog is growing every day and we need to reverse the trend. (Yesterday-February 13th - it was 7,772,154.)

If you can review, do it. Don't index. If you can't review, learn how. Then you can be a better recruiter!

Here is a tutorial...
